First let me say I believe John McCain is a very honorable and respectful man. The problem is in this election we needed someone who has no ties to President Bush. We needed someone who did not cast a vote to go to war in Iraq. While McCain has never been a loyalist to the party and has many times thrown rocks at the Bush administration, the independents that we so desparatley need see John McCain as a 3rd Bush term regardless of history or facts. My chioce was Mike Huckabee. I voted for him in the Indiana primary even though it made no difference. Huck is a very good heartfelt speaker. His policies would represent a new change that we so desparatley need. He is a proponent of the fairtax which is a national sales cusumption tax. It would get rid of the federal income tax which is a tax on productivity and replace it with a sales cunsumption tax that would tax cunsumption. While I believe no President will ever be able to eliminate the partisan politics (we as Americans have to hold them accountable) in congress, Mike Huckabee would be able to reduce the divide and partisan talk more than any candidate that ran for President this year. Why do I believe that? Well all you have to do is listen to him. If a majority of republicans would of payed attention to the primaries they would of seen a man who is honest, trustworthy, kind, and well spoken. I truly believe no advisor could ever convince a man like Huckabee to twist facts, swap positions, or even lie to Americans. While I know Barrack Obama would not be easy to beat. I believe if Mike Huckabee were the republican candidate he would be ahead by 4 to 5 points. Why do i believe that? Well as I mentioned above, he did not vote to go to war in Iraq, he can't be tied to Bush like McCain can, and the biggest reason is because he would be able to hammer Obama on voting to give 700 billion to bailout failed financial institutions. While it is to late to change things now. What we need to do from this point forward is pay close attention as republicans to who we vote for in the primaries. Don't go into the voting booth for primaries and vote for the person you know. Do your own research and vote for the person you know is more in tune with your beliefs, and last someone who can beat Barrack Obama in 2012 if he wins in November. Lets make Mike Huckabee are nominee.
